US Tactical Pilot charts (TPC) Maps. These maps are perfect to investigate terrain of a region. Heights are given in feet. All airports even with the right heading of the runway and much other flight relevant information are marked. As is it made for Pilots flying relatively quick over terrain, the built up area information as well as the road network information is quite basic on these maps.

Projection
Originally Lambert Conformal Conic, based on two standard parallels. Only one standard parallel falls on each TPC. Al of them have been re-projected Geographic lat/long.

Format
Approximately 6 degrees longitude by 4 degrees latitude.

Coordinate Reference System
Geographical (latitude/longitude)

Grid
Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) grid, 100 000 metre intervals.

Horizontal Datum
World Geodetic System 1984 (WGS 84).

Characteristics
Topographic Base Map: Hydrography, depth contours, major and minor towns, railways, main roads, power transmission lines, selected landmark features, contours and spot heights in feet, layer tints, shaded relief, general vegetation and distinctive vegetation.
Aeronautical layer: Aerodromes, radio facilities, aeronautical and marine lights, obstructions, isogonals, maximum terrain elevations and maximum elevation figures.

Contour Interval
500 feet including the first supplementary 250 foot contour in areas of moderate level or gently rolling areas. For charts comprising areas of high elevation and deep ravines, it may have been necessary to increase the chart contour interval to 1 000 feet.
