THE EMERGENCY TRUST FUND FOR HUMANITARIAN ASSISTANCE FOR IRAQ
was created in 1991, in the aftermath of the Gulf crisis.
Funds are allocated to UN Agencies and Programs, International
and Non-governmental Organizations (NGOs), subject to the
submission of project proposals to UNOHCI/OIP and their subsequent
approval.
Some areas of action:
- Rehabilitation of
public facilities
- Institutional
capacity building
- Installation of
equipment in public sector facilities
- Community
rehabilitation
- Income-generating
activities for disadvantaged groups
- Any other
humanitarian activity aimed at improving the living conditions
of the population
