Introduction
The NGO community has also begun to create coordination mechanisms
and support services to improve the humanitarian response in Iraq.
The HIC will post documents published by these groups in order to
provide a clearer overview of the humanitarian coordination
situation inside Iraq. If you have any material that you would
like to post on the HIC website, contact
The Joint NGO Emergency Preparedness Initiative (JNEPI) has been
established by a small group of international NGOs to provide
services to humanitarian agencies. It is currently based in Amman
and will establish offices in Baghdad as soon as possible. They
have issued a
Briefing Sheet to inform the humanitarian community about
their services, and have established a website.
JNEPI have also produced a document outlining
Who is Who
in the Iraq Response providing detailed information about the
presence of NGO's in Iraq including NGO focal points by
Governorate.
The NGOs Coordination Committee in Iraq (NCCI) has been
established by a group of NGOs working in Baghdad to provide a
forum for coordination. The NCCI has provided an
Information Sheet
outlining their principles and membership at 27 April 2003.
